Stardew Valley is an agricultural simulation game that emphasizes animal husbandry, crafting items, fishing, and crop cultivation. Furthermore, it allows players to interact with the local community in Pelican Town and participate in numerous enjoyable activities and thrilling quests.
In addition to early quests such as "Jedi's Story" and locating Robin's lost axe in Stardew Valley, players will also encounter the quest called "Rat Problem." While it may be relatively straightforward and uncomplicated, completing this quest is essential for players to unlock the Community Center and gain access to the Wizard. This guide aims to assist players in successfully completing this quest.
The Rat Problem Quest
The Community Center is an old and dilapidated building located north of Pierre's General Store. Players can enter this building by approaching Pelican Town from the bus station between 08:00 and 13:00 on any sunny day starting from the 5th of Spring. This action triggers a brief cutscene with Mayor Lewis, where he opens the Community Center and leads the player inside.
The Community Center is teeming with peculiar creatures called "Junimos" that quickly hide before the Mayor can catch sight of them. The Mayor suspects the place is "infested with rats" and informs the player that the building will remain open from now on. The quest "Rat Problem" is unlocked once the cutscene concludes.
Entering the town from a different direction, at a different time, or on rainy days does not trigger the cutscene.
How to Complete the “Rat Problem” Quest
The quest "Rat Problem" informs players about something strange happening in the Community Center and urges them to investigate. To solve this quest, players need to re-enter the Community Center. They must navigate to the Crafts Room (the bottom-left room of the building) and examine the golden scroll on the floor. The text on the scroll is complete nonsense, but reading it completes this quest. Players can then return home, go to sleep, and save their progress.
The following morning, players receive their reward: a letter from the Wizard.
Meet the Wizard Quest
In the letter, the Wizard informs the players that he has information regarding the "Rat Problem" and offers his assistance. He requests the players to visit his tower. After reading the letter, a new quest is unlocked with the objective "Meet the Wizard."
The players need to go to the Wizard's Tower, located at the western end of the Cindersap Forest. The Wizard grants the players a potion that gives them the ability to understand the language of the Junimos. This enables them to comprehend the text on the golden scrolls found in the Community Center.
Each scroll requires specific offerings from the Junimos in the form of bundles. Once a bundle is complete, the Junimos reward the player. The players must complete all the bundles to restore the Community Center to its former glory.
Stardew Valley is now available for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
