Stardew Valley: How to Get Oak Resin

Stardew Valley begins with the protagonist inheriting a farm from their deceased grandfather. As they adjust to life in the countryside, players can unlock new areas to explore in order to acquire skills and materials. This opens up a world of new cooking and crafting recipes for players to experiment with.

In Stardew Valley, crafting is the process of creating a new item by following a specific recipe. The recipes utilize everyday materials that are used to craft tools, structures, and other unique items in the game. One such ingredient in crafting is Oak Resin. As it is sticky, it is used for various purposes, from crafting to tailoring.

Extracting Oak Resin is a straightforward process that involves collecting it from oak trees. Whether these trees are growing on the farm or are hidden in the Cindersap Forest, players can still harvest Oak Resin from them. However, resin extraction requires the use of a tapper, a refined tool that players can craft once they reach the third level of farming proficiency.

After reaching the desired level in farming, crafting a Tapper only requires 40 wood and 2 copper bars. Players can then place the Tapper on any accessible oak tree. It takes approximately 1 in-game week with a regular Tapper and 3 nights with a heavy variant of the Tapper to fully extract the Oak Resin. The Oak Resin can be collected by interacting with the tree when the Tapper displays the symbol for Oak Resin.

Players should make sure that the oak trees from which they want to extract Oak Resin are close to their houses. This will make the process of obtaining Oak Resin slightly faster.

Other Ways To Acquire Oak Resin

Although Tappers are the most reliable way to obtain Oak Resin in Stardew Valley, there are also other less effective methods for players to acquire this resource. One such option is defeating Ghost Skulls in the mines. These skulls can be found in the Quarry Mine or deep in the mines on the dungeon levels, and they have a drop rate of 1.3% for Oak Resin.

Occasionally, there is a 0.66% chance that the Woodskipper will give players Oak Resin or Pine Tar when they deposit a piece of Hardwood into it.

Crafting Recipes

Oak Resin is primarily used in two crafting recipes, namely Deluxe Speed-Gro and Kegs, both of which require a farming level of 8.

  • The Deluxe Speed-Gro is made using 1 Oak Resin and 1 Coral. It stimulates leaf production and increases the growth of crops by 25%.
  • Kegs are the best item to craft with Oak Resins and should be a part of every player’s inventory. They are made using 30 Wood, 1 Copper Bar, 1 Iron Bar, and 1 Oak Resin. Kegs are used to make beverages like Wine and Coffee, which can be sold for Gold.

Bundles And Quests

Furthermore, Oak Resin is also an important component in two bundles at the Community Center, namely the Wizard's Bundle on the Bulletin Board and the Exotic Foraging Bundle in the Crafts Room.
