Starfield already has a mod that allows you to murder anyone

When it comes to large open-world RPGs, there is currently much ado about whether one can do everything or go anywhere. Unless we're talking about Baldur's Gate 3, most titles still impose some form of restriction to ensure that players experience the main quest as intended by the developers, and Starfield is no exception. Similar to previous Bethesda titles, Starfield features a selection of significant NPCs whom the player cannot kill, regardless of how much ammunition they fire at them, primarily due to their importance to the overall story of the game.

This is, of course, a major issue for all the murderous space pirates out there. When an important NPC is causing trouble, has done something deserving of punishment, or is simply an overall idiot, you're basically left standing there and enduring it or getting arrested because you've given them a well-deserved slap. Fortunately, a modder named AC Denton has already found a solution.

If you head to Nexus Mods and sift through all the Starfield creations, you will come across AC Denton's very simple mod called "Killable Essential NPCs," which does exactly what it promises. Downloading this mod will subject every previously essential NPC in the inhabited systems to the mercy of your wrath. If you desired, you could exterminate every single life form in the entire galaxy, although you would likely encounter some issues if you still wish to complete the main quest thereafter.

Starfield Already Has A Mod That Lets You Murder Everyone

If you truly wish to embark on a killing spree, there is one thing you must be aware of before you proceed. If you choose the "Childhood Plaything" ability in the character customization section, you will later encounter the two immortal beings who are your parents. Starfield ensures that you cannot lay a single finger on your beloved mother and father, as they are absolutely invulnerable. Even AC Denton's mod would likely not work, as they are not classified as essential NPCs - that's how powerful they are.

Starfield is currently only available to those who have spent money on early access, but the official launch of the game is not far away and will be available in stores next week on September 6th. If you're still undecided about Starfield, you can find out what we think of the game by reading our review by Ben Sledge here. He praises the game for its story and characters but admits that exploration in the game is hindered and many planets can be somewhat dull.
