As you progress through the main story of Starfield, you will eventually land on a planet called Jemison, where you will encounter some members of the Constellation for the first time. On this planet, you can use an elevator near the spaceport to reach the area called "The Well," where you will meet a person named Louisa Reyez.
She will ask for your help in finding a power extraction site in the area, and this will ultimately lead to the Trade Authority in the quest "Alternating Currents." At the end of this quest, the game will also present you with a choice between Zoe and Louisa.
How To Locate The Junction Boxes
If you have reached the quest "Alternating Currents," it means that you have already found several of those boxes during the previous quest, "Tapping the Grid." It starts with you following Louisa to the Trade Authority office in "The Well," where Zoe Kaminski mentions that it's not her fault.
She also asks you to find a few more distribution boxes so they can pinpoint the exact location of the power extraction site. Once the dialogue ends, you can use your scanner and scan the ground for a trail that leads directly to the mentioned box. Following this trail is the easiest way to get there.
Please note that "Alternating Currents" must be your active quest if you want the trail to lead to the box.
After activating the first switch, Louisa and Zoe will ask you to activate different boxes. Zoe's box is much closer, while you have to take a considerable detour to reach Louisa's box. Additionally, the outcome of the quest does not depend on your choice here, so you can choose the box that is easier for you to reach.
Finally, the third box, which you must activate, will be located next to a residential building on the surface. Once you flip this switch, you will be prompted to go up to the building and investigate a specific apartment marked with a blue symbol.
How To Get The Evidence
To get closer to the chain of evidence that solves the puzzle of the energy loss, you must first use a Digipick to open the apartment door. Once inside, you will find a computer with a variety of files. You simply need to click on the "Download Files" option to obtain the evidence and advance the quest.
While you're here, nobody will be present in this apartment, so you can freely look around and pick up any items you want to obtain value from using the Digipick. However, please note that these items will be confiscated if you are caught with a bounty.
Who Should You Give The Evidence To?
Shortly before you secure the evidence from the apartment building, Zoe will call you and mention that she wants you to hand over the evidence to her instead of giving it to Louisa. This is the main part of "Alternating Current" as you have the choice to either give the evidence to Zoe or Louisa once you have it in your hands.
Technically speaking, your choice doesn't make a big difference for you, as in both cases, you will receive the same reward (2,000 credits). You are free to choose to whom you want to give the evidence, keeping the following in mind:
- Louisa has been on this case from the very start and she's had quite a lot of problems because of it.
- On the other hand, Zoe is a corporate employee who is willing to use any methods to get her way.
The Trade Authority is one of the few merchants in the game where you can sell stolen items or contraband. Fortunately, this is not affected by your choice, and you can still sell these items to them even if you hand over the evidence to Louisa.
