Starfield - How to Obtain the Starborn Guardian Ship

Finding the perfect spaceship in Starfield can take dozens of hours. Exploring populated systems in search of the right ship can be time-consuming, and creating your dream spacecraft can cost over a million credits and numerous skill points. Fortunately, there is a fantastic ship that anyone can obtain with minimal effort.

The Starborn Guardian is one of the more exotic ship designs in Starfield, featuring unique weapons and attributes that no other ship possesses. In this guide, we will show you how to obtain the Starborn Guardian ship and explain how you can upgrade this vessel.

How To Get The Starborn Guardian Ship

The Starborn Guardian ship is unlocked once you start New Game Plus (NG+). Upon completing the main story of Starfield, you unlock the ability to initiate an NG+ playthrough, where your character will acquire the Starborn Guardian ship in addition to the Frontier ship. You can switch between your active ships at any time in the "Ship" tab of the character menu.

Starborn Guardian Stats

The Starborn Guardian is a Class-A starfighter that boasts incredible agility. Unlike any other ships in Starfield, this vessel is equipped with Solarflare beams and Graviton torpedoes. They function similarly to lasers and missiles, but do not benefit from laser or missile-related abilities.

Compared to other ships, the Starborn Guardian features an enhanced jump drive, a high fuel capacity, and an incredibly fast thrust engine. When boosting with this ship, it can reach top speeds of around 700 units per second while remaining cloaked. However, this cloaking device appears to be purely cosmetic, as boosting with any ship disrupts enemy lock-on regardless.

Upgrading The Starborn Ship

Since the Starborn Guardian does not have a specific manufacturer, you cannot upgrade the ship through normal means. When speaking with a ship mechanic about upgrading your ship, no upgrade options will be displayed. The ship's weapons, cargo capacity, and jump drive are all fixed and cannot be altered.

However, that does not mean you cannot improve the ship at all. Each time you start an NG+ cycle, your Starborn ship will receive improved stats, up to a maximum of six NG+ cycles. These upgrades will enhance the ship's damage, hull strength, and shield capacity. Unfortunately, there is no way to increase the cargo capacity of the Starborn Guardian ship through ship upgrades. You will need to upgrade the "Payloads" skill in the technology tree to enlarge your cargo hold.

Can You Customize The Starborn Ship?

Unfortunately, in Starfield, you cannot customize the Starborn ship. There are no options for swapping parts, upgrading systems, or changing the ship's colors. However, you can assign crew members to the Starborn Guardian, although many combat skills may not work due to the unique weapon systems of the Starborn Guardian.
