In Starfield, immersing yourself in the multitude of abilities that span across extensive skill trees is a fundamental aspect of gameplay. If you are new, it can be easy to allocate points in a way that you may regret later. Surprisingly and unfortunately, the game does not offer a direct reset function to assist you in reallocating your hard-earned skill points.
Although this isn't a major issue since you can theoretically reach infinite levels, it can be a long wait to correct any mistakes in later gameplay. If you are impatient and interested in restructuring those abilities earlier, there is an unconventional way to do so, and this guide will show you exactly how.
Can You Respec In Starfield?
In Starfield, you cannot reallocate your skills within the game. This means that technically, you cannot take skill points from abilities to which you have already assigned them and allocate them to another ability.
While that is unfortunate, it is not nearly as bad as it sounds because there is no level cap in Starfield. This means you can progress infinitely and ultimately acquire all the skills you desire.
On the other hand, as you progress further in the game and the experience point requirements increase, new skill points may become rarer and more spaced out. However, if you want to revise your build faster than through level upgrades, you can do so with the help of console commands.
How To Respec In Starfield
To perform a "reassignment" in Starfield, you need to use console commands. This is not exactly a traditional "reassignment" since you have to use commands to add a point to your desired skill and then use another command to remove it from an existing skill. It's a bit cumbersome, but it serves its purpose!
To start, open the console. By default, you can do this by pressing the Grave key (`).
Unfortunately, console commands are only available to PC players. That being said, your save files can be transferred between platforms.
Next, use the following console commands to add and remove points in your skills, respectively.
- player.removeperk (Perk ID)
- player.addperk (Perk ID)
To add the Medicine perk to your character, open the console and enter the command "player.addperk 002CE2DF". To remove it, use the command "player.removeperk 002CE2DF".
Please note that using console commands will automatically disable your achievements. However, you can bypass this with certain third-party mods.
