Although Skyrim and Fallout NPCs are not known for the same issue affecting Starfield NPCs, they can still behave strangely at times. Given the vast scope of Starfield as a game, it's possible that some NPCs haven't been encountered yet. Beyond this eye issue, there is a rare glitch that players have experienced where NPCs transform into terrifying Starfield monsters. Despite these NPC-related glitches, Starfield has been mostly free of major issues upon release compared to Fallout 4 and Skyrim. While some Starfield players appreciate the facial expressions NPCs make, others may be distracted by NPCs with wide-open eyes.
Despite some memorable NPC stereotypes in Bethesda games, each game has improved since its launch. Since Starfield is a new release, Bethesda may be able to address the NPC eyes with a future update. Although Starfield had a day-one patch, it is currently unclear how long it will take for the next patch to be released.
Starfield is now available as Early Access and will officially be released on September 6th for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
