Starfield is a vast, expansive game with many complex systems to learn and explore. From settlements to surveys, it can be somewhat overwhelming, especially when you're prompted to do something and the game refuses to tell you exactly how to do it. Sometimes the instructions are vague, and you have to overcome specific obstacles to fulfill your task.
One such task is a very simple one - the prompt to check the inventory of your ship. Although there are multiple ways to do this, only one will meet the requirements outlined in your quest log.
How To Access Your Ship's Inventory
You will receive this task fairly early in the game - either because someone has placed items in your inventory that are required for a quest, or the game has simply decided that it's time for you to check your storage space. The problem is that there are two ways to interact with your ship's storage, and only one of them will complete the task.
To complete this activity, you actually need to go to your ship and be inside it. Right behind the pilot's seat, there is a console on the wall. It functions like any other container in the game and holds everything in your ship's inventory. If you simply click on this console to open it, the activity will be completed.
You will receive a small amount of experience points when you complete this activity.
However, using this console is not the best way to interact with your ship's inventory! The best way is to use the ship menu functionality, which is accessible through the regular character menu.
Here, you can quickly and efficiently exchange items between your character's inventory and your ship's inventory, and see more detailed information about what exactly you have stored, rather than just a simple list with limited details.
