Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster affected by delay

In a recently released announcement that may disappoint fans of the classic JRPG series, Konami has revealed that the HD remaster of Suikoden 1 and 2 will be delayed beyond the end of the year. The franchise was initially launched in 1995 on the original PlayStation and has since seen four sequels and numerous spin-offs. Even after all these years, the series still maintains a loyal fan base, with Suikoden 2 being regarded as one of Konami's finest offerings for the PS1. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that many players have been eagerly anticipating a remaster of the first two titles.

The remastered games were announced last year, and in early 2023, Konami showcased gameplay footage of Suikoden 1 and 2. While no specific release date was ever assigned to the titles, since the initial unveiling, developer and publisher Konami has consistently emphasized a planned release in the year 2023. Now, it appears that these plans have changed.

In an announcement made on August 29th, which was released both on Twitter and the official game's website, Konami informed fans that the remasters of Suikoden 1 and 2 will be delayed. The message was brief and relatively lacking in details, simply stating that the decision was made "to ensure that the quality of performance and gameplay experience" meets Konami's standards. While the development team was praised for their work, Konami emphasized that additional time is needed to properly prepare everything for release.

The announcement also did not provide any specific information regarding a new release date. It is evident that players will not be receiving Suikoden 1 and 2 this year, but there are no indications as to when Konami intends to release them or if a new date has been established at all.
