"The third part of the FF7 Remake trilogy is already in development, with the story being crafted," according to the Associate Producer and Co-Director of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

The latest trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth reveals an expanded combat system, side activities, and a new story that differs from the original game.

The team behind the games is interested in fan feedback, but it is unlikely that major changes will be made to the story based on player reactions.

The Associate Producer and Co-Director of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth explains that the story for the third part of the FF7 Remake trilogy is already being crafted. Fans won't have to wait long for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as the latest trailer for the game finally unveils a release date: February 29, 2024. The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer also provides fans with many things to look forward to by showcasing the expanded combat system, variety of side activities, and captivating story that promises to differ from the original FF7.

Thanks to the ongoing Tokyo Game Show, fans were able to get a more detailed look at the game, with Square Enix also in attendance. This included a gameplay presentation of Rebirth at TGS, showcasing numerous gameplay scenes and revealing that Red XIII is playable, swimming is possible, and there is a vast field for players to explore. In addition to this presentation, Co-Director Naoki Hamaguchi and Producer Yoshinori Kitase also participated in a special Samsung livestream during TGS to discuss Rebirth, with Kitase mentioning that they have already begun drafting the story for the third game.

In this livestream (with the clip translated by Twitter user aitaikimochi), Kitase mentions that they have already started working on the scenarios and storyline for the next installment following Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. According to Kitase, Co-Director Tetsuya Nomura, writer Kazushige Nojima, and himself have completed what he refers to as the "first phase." He also mentions that he hopes fans will share their feedback on Rebirth, as it will influence certain story elements based on their reactions.

According to aitaikimochi, Kitase's reaction and comments during this interview do not necessarily suggest that the story of the third game would drastically alter the already established main elements of the plot based solely on player reactions to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Instead, it appears that Kitase is asking players to share their reactions online and discuss the game, as the team truly enjoys seeing how players respond to the games they develop.

The story of Rebirth promises to be extremely captivating as it not only tells the part of the story up until the Fallen City but also focuses on the impact of Cloud's actions from the previous installment. With an episode that centers around Zack's survival and the implication of multiple timelines merging, fans will have to wait and see what Square Enix has planned for this game and how it will transition into the next one.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on February 29, 2024, for the PS5.
