The Disney Dreamlight Valley Cozy Edition for the Switch has a catch

Disney Dreamlight Valley's physical Cozy Edition is now available for pre-order and will be released later this year, but the Switch version only includes a download code inside the box, which has disappointed some players.

The Cozy Edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley includes exclusive physical and digital goodies, including stickers, a Cheshire Cat sweater, animal companion skins, and free in-game currency.

While some players have criticized Disney Dreamlight Valley for its microtransactions, they still have the option to stick with their digital copies or choose from other available editions of the game.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has introduced its physical version called the Cozy Edition, but the Switch version will have a catch. Disney Dreamlight Valley is still in the early access phase and is expected to have a full free-to-play release later this year.

Released in 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley allows players to create unique avatars and houses while exploring the wonderful open world where they can make friends with Disney characters. The dedicated community often shares their outfit and house designs using Disney Dreamlight Valley's customization tools. The title by Gameloft is currently available in digital editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate, with players being able to instantly receive exclusive cosmetic rewards.

With the upcoming full release of Disney Dreamlight Valley, the game has unveiled its physical version called the Cozy Edition, which will be available at retail later this year. The game is now available for pre-order for the Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. However, Gameloft has stated in the FAQs that the Switch version of Disney Dreamlight Valley will not have a physical cartridge, but instead will include a download code inside a physical box. Meanwhile, other consoles will have actual discs in their respective boxes.

In the past, other Switch ports of games like Overwatch also did not have physical cartridges. Since Disney Dreamlight Valley Cozy Edition follows the same format, there may be some players who choose not to purchase the Switch version. On social media, there have already been some people who were disappointed to receive only a download code.

In addition to the base game, Disney Dreamlight Valley Cozy Edition will include exclusive stickers, a Cheshire Cat sweater for avatars, and companion animal skins. Players will also receive a free 14,500 Moonstones that they can use in the game to purchase items. Additionally, those who already have the base game installed on their consoles can still obtain the exclusive items of the Cozy Edition by redeeming the Switch's download code or inserting the disc into their consoles.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has received a lot of criticism due to its microtransactions, which many players perceive as unfair and predatory. Only time will tell if players will protest Disney Dreamlight Valley for the Switch's download code in the Cozy Edition. In any case, they still have the option to stick with their existing digital copies or opt for other editions of Disney Dreamlight Valley that are already available.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is now available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
