It appears that the final roster of Mortal Kombat 1 has leaked online two weeks before the game's release, revealing that Nitara is the 24th playable fighter.
After years of waiting, we are just a few weeks away from the release of Mortal Kombat 1. Players who pre-ordered the Premium Edition will even receive the game as early as September 14. With the imminent launch and the fact that MK1 has already had leaks since its initial announcement, further leaks were inevitable. And that seems to be the case here, as the final roster of the game appears to have been shared online.
As shared by Twitter user thetiny, it appears that someone has gained access to an early version of Mortal Kombat 1 for the Nintendo Switch. As a result, they were able to see the full roster of the game, including the fighter who occupies the 24th and final spot. While many expected Jade or Sonya Blade to be the 24th character, it seems that it is actually Nitara from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
In the screenshot shared by thetiny, Nitara can be seen in the lower right corner of the screen next to Ashrah. While her name is not confirmed in the post, the demon wings and her position next to Ashrah make it clear who she is. Although it's disappointing that Jade didn't make it despite many fan requests, Nitara is undoubtedly a more exciting choice as she hasn't appeared in a Mortal Kombat game since Armageddon, even though she is one of the most popular fighters of the 3D era.
The roster leak also confirms that Havik can be unlocked in the story mode of this game, similar to Frost in Mortal Kombat 11 and Shinnok in Mortal Kombat X. Aside from Shang Tsung, who is a pre-order bonus, Havik is the only character in the roster with a lock next to his name, indicating that he needs to be unlocked. On the character selection screen, there is also a grayed-out character slot, which could potentially be a secret character or simply the placeholder for the first DLC fighter.
Although Nitara as the last character is the most interesting part of the leak, thetiny also shared the alleged final roster of cameo fighters for Mortal Kombat 1. Unfortunately, there are no surprises to be found here, as all the fighters seen in the leaked screenshot have already been revealed in the latest trailers for Mortal Kombat 1.
