The Oracle games are a distinctive feature within "The Legend of Zelda" series. They draw inspiration from the style of "Link's Awakening," but were developed by Capcom rather than Nintendo. These games form a duo that presents unique tools, narratives, and characters. One of these characters, who appears in both games, is Dimitri.
You are one of three animal companions in the game, with Dimitri being capable of swimming in deep water and devouring enemies along your path. However, it might not be clear, particularly in Oracle of Ages, how exactly you can obtain Dimitri as a companion, and we are here to assist you.
How To Get Dimitri In Oracle Of Ages
In order to acquire a specific animal companion, namely Moosh, Ricky, or Dimitri, you must obtain their respective flute. However, this choice is more of a random occurrence rather than something of significant importance, resulting in an outcome that is arbitrary if you are unaware of what you're doing.
The first time you will encounter Dimitri in Oracle of Ages is when he is surrounded by the Tokay on Crescent Island, after completing Moonlit Grotto. This makes him the final animal companion you will encounter.
You will have the opportunity to play with each of the animal companions during the first three chapters of the game. After completing the third dungeon, Moonlit Grotto, you will travel to the Nuun Highlands and make your choice.
To obtain Dimitri as your companion, you must purchase the Strange Flute from the Lynna City Shop for 150 Rupees. From that point onward, he will be established as your companion. Once you reach the Fairies' Woods, you will encounter Dimitri, and he will transform the Strange Flute into Dimitri's Flute, allowing you to summon him in selected areas.
How To Get Dimitri In An Oracle Of Ages Linked Game
What makes the Oracle games special is how they can function as sequels to each other. Upon completing one game, you receive a unique code that can be entered into the other game, allowing your journey to continue where you left off.
For the purpose of this article, it would be as if you had first completed Oracle of Seasons and continued with the secret obtained at the end of the previous game, carrying it over to Oracle of Ages.
In this scenario, you cannot choose your animal companion and will retain the same one as in Oracle of Seasons. You will still play through the earlier sections with each animal companion, but if Moosh was your companion in Oracle of Seasons, he will remain your companion in a linked game of Oracle of Ages as well.
Navigating The Nuun Highlands With Dimitri
Although each animal companion is unique in how they navigate the world, the biggest aspect of the game that depends on your choice is the Nuun Highlands. The Nuun Highlands are located north of Lynna City, and your animal companion must have been selected by this point, otherwise Moosh will be chosen by default.
With Dimitri, the Nuun Highlands are flooded, and his ability to swim is crucial for completing the area. This holds true in a linked game as well, where the Nuun Highlands will be set to match the imported animal companion.
