A network of caves stretches beneath the surface of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Over 140 caves are hidden behind rocks, on slopes, and underwater. To locate these caves, you should offer a fruit to a Satori cherry blossom tree or follow the Blupees on the road, as they can guide you in the right direction.
Caves serve as a wellspring of materials, armor components, and Bubbul gemstones, which you can exchange for items at Koltin's emporium. As you may be preoccupied with completing all the shrines and searching for Koroks instead of delving into the underworld, allow me to present the ten caves that you should not overlook.
10 Pagos Woods Excavation Site
The excavation site in Pagos Forest, located in Faron, is the ideal location to stock up on charges for powering your Zonai devices. Deep within the cave, you will encounter a laser puzzle where you can utilize the Ultrahand to lift various items from the shelves and strategically position them to obstruct the path of each individual laser.
Once you have accomplished this task for all three lasers, the door to a chest containing a substantial Zonai charge will open. The adjacent cave, the excavation site in Finra Forest, holds another significant Zonai charge, allowing you to visit both locations simultaneously.
9 Talonto Peak Cave
South of Talonto Peak in the Hebra Mountains, this cave is perfect for gathering frost mushrooms to prepare dishes that will keep you warm. Verla, one of the Rito, is waiting outside and requests ten frost mushrooms, which you can find inside the cave, for the side quest "Crossing the Chilly Pool."
In addition to frost mushrooms, inside the cave, you'll find gemstones, sunshroom seeds, chillshroom fruits, sunshroom caps, and, of course, a Bubbulfrog. You simply need to cross a frozen river to collect all the materials.
8 Calora Lakefront Cave
In the middle of the cave at the shores of Lake Calora in the eastern part of Faron, there is a large hole. Before descending, destroy the nearby wall using the nearby barrel bombs. Behind it, you'll find a Bubbulfrog and a few mining spots.
The eldest Hinox brother sleeps at the bottom of the cave. Defeat him with arrows to the eye and barrel bombs to receive a generous reward in the form of meat, Hinox guts, and knight weapons. Additionally, you can find bomb barrels, sunshroom caps, giant sunshroom seeds, and cave fish.
7 East Biron Snowshelf Cave
The East Biron Snowfield Cave in the Hebra Mountains has two entrances: one to the east and one to the west of the snowfield. Regardless of how you enter, you will find a Bubbulfrog here. After completing the Wind Temple, you can undertake and complete the side quest "The Vanished Duchess."
In the middle of the cave, the shield surfer Selmie will be waiting for you, and when you speak to her, she will return to her chalet called "Selmie's Spot." When you visit her chalet next time, she will reward you with a powerful Zonaite Shield.
6 Popla Foothills Exploration Site
Here, there are three caves: Popla Foothills Exploration Cave, Sahasra Slope Cave, and Meadela's Mantle Cave. Each cave grants access to one of the lookout towers in the Popla Foothills Sky, where a fountain with the NPC Elmerson awaits at the bottom. To rescue Elmerson and activate the tower, circle around the fountain to find rocks blocking the entrance to the exploration cave.
You can destroy them with a bomb barrel or a rock-fused weapon, and once you're inside, there is a chest on the left side that you can reach by using the Ultrahand to move it onto the switch on the other side of the bars. Follow the path on the right side to find and defeat the Bubbulfrog, in order to obtain a Bubbul gemstone.
5 North Hyrule Plain Cave
The climbing gear can be found in the cave of the Northern Hyrule Plains, located southwest of the Northern Hyrule Plains. If you come across the NPC Meeshy in a mushroom dress or other travelers wearing clothing designed by Cece, they will either mark the locations of Misko's treasures or indicate caves with powerful armor pieces.
On the way north to the new Serenne Stable, take a right just before the stable to find the cave atop a hill. To complete the set, you need to journey to the cave on the Upland Zorana Side Path for the Climbing Boots and the cave on Ploymus Mountain for the Climbing Bandana.
4 Isle Of Rabac Gallery
You need to traverse specific caves to reach the shrine located within them. For example, the Rabac Island Gallery in Eldin leads you to the Jiotak Shrine, and to reach it, you must use a minecart connected to a fan.
To reach the end of the cave, you will need heat-resistant equipment, defeat fire keese, and ride along the rails over the lava. Fortunately, once you reach the shrine, you only need to enter it to obtain a magical staff and a light of blessing.
3 Tamio River Downstream Cave
The Tamio River Lower Reach Cave is located at the end of the Tamio River, and if you approach it from upstream, you will see a Blupee on a strip of land above the water, leading to a cave. Two Bokoblins block the entrance to the cave but will drown if they fall into the water below. Eliminate them with arrows.
In the next room, the chest containing the Phantom Armor is located on the right side. It is possible to defeat the dark hands below using bomb barrels or weapons from elevated ground, but the easier option is to slide down and take the right path to reach the chest.
2 Eventide Island Cave
In the southeastern part of the map, you will find the beautiful Eventide Island. To reach the Marari-in Shrine, you should complete the side quest "In Search of the Pirate Hideout." You can trigger this quest by speaking to Sesami, who asks you to eliminate the Bokoblins at the pirate hideouts on the island.
Afterwards, you can reach the entrance of the cave via the pirate ship and either defeat the enemies on board or sneak past them while wearing the Bokoblin Mask. Then, use the Ultrahand to build a bridge and proceed further into the cave, and the Marari-in Shrine will reward you with a Light of Blessing.
1 Crenel Hills Cave
The last cave houses a Stone Talus, valuable materials, and the Barbarian Armor. Located east of Hyrule Castle, to the right of the Boneyard Bridge, this cave is accessible early on and can be mined for flint and luminous stones. Inside the cave, a Stone Talus will emerge from the ground, dropping rocks, gemstones, and a Talus heart that you can fuse with a weapon of your choice.
The chest in the cave of the Crenel Hills contains the Barbarian Armor. The Barbarian Leg Wraps can be found in the cave of the Walnut Mountain, and the Barbarian Helmet in the Robred Ruins. So, visit all three caves to complete the Barbarian Armor set, and Link will look fearsome, covered in war paint.
