In the treacherous world of Diablo 4, where the mightiest barbarians swing their hammers and sorcerers conjure devastating spells, a new champion has emerged. And it's not a muscle-bound brute or a spell-casting prodigy—it's a free robot spider pet! Yes, you heard that right. This seemingly useless companion has undergone a dramatic transformation, thanks to an emergency patch from Blizzard. Now, it's obliterating endgame bosses with billions of damage, and its power is only growing.
Before the launch of Season 3, Blizzard assured players that the Seneschal companion would scale with their character's stats and never meet its demise. However, when the Season of the Construct arrived, players discovered that leveling up the Governing and Tuning Stones, which grant the pet skills, was an arduous task. Many dismissed the little robot as mere scrap metal. But Blizzard came to the rescue by significantly increasing the drop rates for these stones. With their newfound abundance, players have unlocked the pet's maximum potential, finding ways to amplify its damage and turn it into a boss-farming machine.
One notable Diablo 4 streamer, Rob2628, has crafted a robot capable of dealing damage in the billions, rivaling the destructive force of a season-one barbarian. Rob, along with other community members, conducted extensive testing to identify which skills and stats would enhance the Seneschal. While some Legendary powers failed to carry over, certain abilities proved extremely effective. Barbarians and sorcerers, in particular, excel at augmenting their pet's stats, boosting its bleed and fire damage. The Firefly Governing Stone, unleashing explosive bugs, has become the robot's signature attack, tearing through enemies with devastating force that scales with the player's attack power and critical strike damage.
Thanks to these fiery fireflies, the Seneschal can now dispatch the formidable level 100 boss, Echo of Duriel, in a mere three minutes, as witnessed on the Maxroll Discord server and celebrated by renowned Diablo streamer, Wudijo. Even Echo of Lilith, another challenging boss, falls victim to the pet's wrath in a similarly short span of time.
Rob predicts that each class will have its own unique method of empowering their pet, but extensive testing will be required to uncover them all. Fortunately, an upcoming patch promises to buff almost every one of the pet's skills, with a 10% increase in Firefly damage and a 30% boost to several other abilities. This should provide other classes with exciting opportunities to harness their pets' potential.
Finally, the Season of the Construct lives up to Blizzard's original promise. Sean White, a systems game designer, emphasized the pet's immense strength in a pre-launch interview with PC Gamer. While it took time for players to discover just how powerful the pet could become, it now stands as a formidable force. It still struggles to keep pace in dungeons and clear packs of enemies, but the ability to solo bosses that other classes find daunting is undeniably impressive. If this little robot isn't obliterating bosses left and right in a matter of days, I'll eat my wizard's pointy hat.
