The weekly and daily challenges in Mortal Kombat 1 are faulty

Like in previous games of the series, Mortal Kombat 1 also features weekly and daily challenges. By completing these challenges, players earn in-game currency, and upon completing a certain number of challenges, they receive a cosmetic reward. In the first week of early access, players were rewarded with a Li Mei skin, but due to a progression bug, not everyone received it.

The objectives were quite simple, such as blocking 20 times or performing 50 uppercuts. Unfortunately, the challenges were not properly tracked. I played invasions, towers, and the online combat league to see if there was an issue with the game mode, but my uppercuts remained stuck at six out of 50. The number of blocks never went beyond two. As a result, I did not receive the Li Mei skin, and similar reports are surfacing online indicating that this is a widespread issue.

"TheThiny said, 'I missed out on the Li Mei "weekly" skin because the "connect uppercuts" action was not counting for me (after numerous uppercuts, it only registered seven out of 50).' Did anyone else experience this issue? (I'm not concerned about the skin itself)."

Several people responded to TheThiny's tweet and confirmed his statements by acknowledging that they also encountered this issue. "@ringy5421 said, 'Yes, the stats are all messed up, it even shows that I've only played for about two hours, despite completing the story and invasions and only needing six trophies for platinum.'"

On the subreddit "Mortal Kombat Leaks," others claimed to have encountered the same progression bug. Fortunately, a user discovered a workaround. "SOLUTION FOR THE UPPERCUT CHALLENGE: Go to the boss level on Sun Do in invasions," said Vikat1. "Choose a character with low damage like Rain and equip a relic that reduces damage by 25 percent. You can complete the 50 uppercuts in one match. I still haven't received the Li Mei skin, so I can't say anything about that."

While some couldn't advance the challenges, others had an even more frustrating problem. "Worse than not counting is that it's going backward for me?" said RainRainKeku. "No idea what's happening there, maybe it started with 25 uppercuts and then went down? No idea."

Two players responded, saying that the same thing happened to them, while others reported that the quest with 10,000 damage also had an error. It happened to me as well. It got stuck at around 1,000 despite me completing invasions and participating in multiple battles in the Combat League. I definitely dealt more than 10,000 damage.

Players are also reporting that progress for daily challenges is not being recorded, but at the time of writing, neither of these issues has been resolved yet.
