The Xbox Game Pass is adding a new game on its release day today

The latest addition to the Xbox Game Pass is the title game Party Animals, which follows another solid addition and precedes a few more. In fact, it's evident that September 2023 has been an excellent month for the Xbox Game Pass.

So far, the service has added Starfield, Gris, Spiritfarer, Lies of P, and now Party Animals. It's a strong and diverse selection, following an equally strong month in August. Ultimately, it remains to be seen how the upcoming months will unfold, but it's an exciting time to be a subscriber. Party Animals will be officially added to the Xbox Game Pass for PC and consoles today, perhaps as a celebration of the strong month.

Party Animals is a physics-based brawler and party game, and the easiest comparison is Gang Beasts. They play very similarly, except that in Party Animals, players take on the role of animals like Nemo the Corgi, Underbite the dinosaur, Harry the duck, Otta the otter, Macchiato the cat, and so on, as they punch, kick, jump, headbutt, and wield weapons to ensure they are the last ones standing. The launch includes three key game modes, such as the free-for-all mode Last Stand or the capture-the-flag style of Snatch Squad. Thankfully, there are many different maps, and the limited game modes don't diminish the fun as much as one might think. After all, it's a solid game, although not necessarily something entirely new.

Xbox Game Pass Adds New Day One Game Today

As we mentioned in our review of Party Animals, "People who enjoy Gang Beasts and other physics-based multiplayer games will have a lot of fun with Party Animals, as it is the most polished and complete game of its kind. However, it is unlikely to convince newcomers, and its monetization model remains to be seen. The game's affordable price and availability on Xbox Game Pass make it an easy recommendation for those in need of a new, straightforward multiplayer game for their collection, but one should not expect groundbreaking innovations."

If Party Animals isn't everyone's cup of tea, there's still plenty more to look forward to on the Xbox Game Pass in September and October 2023. This includes, among others, but possibly not exclusively, Payday 3 on September 21, Cocoon on September 29, Gotham Knights on October 3, and The Lamplighter's League also on October 3.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers receive a handful of games every month.
