Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Understanding Warp Charges

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has undergone significant changes since its release, most notably a comprehensive overhaul of the playable classes and their Talent trees. Players who have been bravely fighting against the forces of chaos from the very start may have had to readjust and learn anew certain aspects of their characters, especially Psykers.

Psyker players, just like players of other classes, now have a significantly broader selection of Talents available to them. This allows them to customize their character build in ways that were previously unimaginable. If you're returning to Darktide after a period of absence and are curious about the changes to Warp Charges, continue reading to find out more!

Are Warp Charges Still In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide?

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide - Warp Charge, Explained

In Darktide, Warp Charges, which were previously inherent abilities of the Psyker class, are now limited to a specific high-level build. Starting from Patch 13 and the accompanying Class Overhaul released on October 5, 2023, a Psyker character must reach a sufficient level to unlock the Warp Siphon keystone power located at the bottom-left of the Talent Tree.

Opting for Warp Siphon means you won't be able to select Empowered Psionics or Disrupt Destiny, so make your choice wisely!

Psykers who have not unlocked Warp Siphon will no longer acquire or utilize Warp Charges in any manner.

What Are Warp Charges In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide?

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide - Warp Charge,

Warp Charges are acquired whenever a Psyker equipped with Warp Siphon eliminates an Elite or Specialist Enemy, regardless of the method used, not necessarily limited to psychic powers. Any accumulated Warp Charges gradually diminish at a rate of one Charge every twenty-five seconds, and a maximum of four Warp Charges can be held simultaneously.

When utilizing your Combat Ability (Venting Shriek, Telekine Shield, or Scrier's Gaze, depending on your chosen build), all your Warp Charges are consumed, resulting in a reduction of the cooldown on the Combat Ability by 7.5 percent per Charge. This implies that with a full set of charges, you can decrease your cooldown time by almost one-third!

The remaining purple Talents that follow after Warp Siphon provide additional advantages for accumulating and utilizing Warp Charges. It is highly recommended to unlock all of them once you have a sufficient number of Talent Points at your disposal!
